A few weeks ago we planted our Spring crop in the garden. I took pictures with my new fancy camera only to discover that I couldn't get them off the camera and onto my computer, so I used my phone to take pictures of the camera screen to show you our planting day! Ha!
William looked great planting in his soccer uniform and cowboy boots! He and Silas laughed and laughed at the squirmy worms.
Vera picked lots of beautiful Spring flowers out of our flower garden. I LOVE the Spring. The beauty is breathtaking... even with the pollen and runny noses.
After we planted, I watered once or twice and now THIS is what our garden looks like! As you can see, my main crop is grass :). Well, sometimes when you are busy with three small children you just do the best you can, which might mean a weed-filled garden, but that is ok. The grass will make way for our summer crops in the next couple weeks.
Despite our negligent care, our little seeds are growing! Here is our row of lettuce (and baby cherry tomato plants that always overtake my garden, raspberry vines that are also taking over, and of course lots of weeds).
Radishes are starting to look lovely.
I love growing asparagus because once it is established it comes back every year and pretty much takes care of itself. The chickens keep it somewhat weeded for us.
Here are our 'pretty little rows', haha. But hey, we are still getting plenty of sprouting beets, radishes, lettuce, snap peas, carrots, and spinach... so, 'oh well' for the weeds.
I do, however, need to get a little better about not planting such invasive plants in my garden. Mint, raspberries, and cherry tomatoes should have been given their own DISTANT locations, because they are really taking over. Anyone want some???
