A few weeks ago we started transforming the playroom into a children's bedroom starting with a secret tree house, so here is the finished product (at least for now).
Once Justin finished cutting into the ceiling to make an awesome tree house play-space, it was my turn to paint the tree.
First came the branches... And then a couple days of rest for my arms to recover from all the painting on the ceiling.
Then came the leaves (and more rest for my arms... I thought of Michaelangelo, but I think lying on your back would at least be easier than straining my neck to look up).
Then came the grass and bugs.
And a praying mantis.
Then comes the fun! Silas and vera enjoy "spider swinging" together, and we've been enjoying finishing off other details in the room as well.
The ceiling is very light blue with some subtle clouds near the window.
Justin made some great looking branch curtain rods (and got to use our knot book to secure the branches).
The fan blades are painted with the planets from our solar system (in their current placement in orbit... Pretend the lights in the middle are the sun).
Plus we are working hard to keep the space simple and clean, so the only major toys available in this room are the play kitchen and train track.
William and Vera have slept in their new room for about a week now and are really enjoying it. Vera is still adjusting a little (waking once or twice a night looking for some reassurance), but I can hear her from downstairs with a monitor and go give her a quick kiss to send her back to sleep.
The old nursery is much less crowded! Silas is enjoying his space and really loves having some special toys in his room (to tide him over if he wakes up before the rest of us are ready to be awake). Sleep problems aren't fully resolved yet, but I'm hopeful that another week or two will have him crying for us much less during the night (consistency, consistency, consistency... we are trying!)... At least he isn't waking the other two now (though I did intercept him going up the stairs in the middle of the night once... Time to replace the baby gate our dog chewed up!).
Goodbye beds and hello floor space! There is a rug in there now as well... I just took the picture while it was hanging outside after I cleaned it.
The inside of the tree house has been primed and the floor covered with a nice big blanket. I'll be finishing off the inside more eventually, so I'll share pictures again if/when I do :). For now we are enjoying games of Candyland and go fish up there.
It looks amazing! So glad to finally see pictures of the finished product. How fun!
