William turns 8!

On May 11th William, my first baby, turned 8. He chose a steak dinner and we had key lime pie (his favorite) for dessert. We gave him a stuffed animal falcon (his favorite animal), which he has named "Hunter." The falcon serves as 'lookout' atop William's bunk bed each night.
William is smart and creative. He is patient towards his younger siblings and shows great empathy towards others' hurts. He shines when doing karate, and the list of books he has read is too long to count. He wants to make his friends laugh by being exceptionally goofy. He still blows me kisses as the school bus pulls away, which makes my heart smile. I cherish those moments, as I know in a blink of an eye he will be grown.
Once the weekend came we celebrated with friends by doing a dinosaur treasure hunt.
Pictures of plant eaters along their treasure hunt were accompanied by prizes, while pictures of meat eaters were battled by various means (nerf guns, water balloons, play swords...).
William was the originator of his party ideas (which were subject to change daily), and Justin and I worked to make them happen.
Some T Rex Dinos had to be destroyed by shooting water out of straws :).
And finally the last meat eater was stopped with bow and arrow lessons.
(That is Gandalf's grave on the bottom left of this picture.)
William said it was the best day ever.
Makes a Mommy's heart happy.

  1. So much to live about this...blowing kisses from bus window, Dino cake, color cyan, and where he truly shows that he is a perfect blend of Justin & Anna: tablet, herb garden, reading, and imagining. ;)
