Silly and Snake

A student from my Bradley® birth class saw that we were looking for a barn cat and gave me a call about a stray she'd found but was allergic to.  We gladly welcomed the cat into our home this past weekend, and William named him:
SILLY CAT
William loves cats, and both he and Vera have been thrilled to finally have one of their very own.

This cat is the perfect combination of a
wild hunter and sweet-as-can-be companion.
Welcome, Silly Cat, to Winter Farm!
Oh, and Gandalf and Silly Cat are getting along well after a few initial hisses and barks.  Silly Cat and the chickens still aren't so fond of each other... but they're doing alright.

William took the picture below to help tell the next story:

I'm REALLY excited because... I caught the big black rat snake!
Me and my 32 week pregnant self used the bent orange pole to catch the snake in the chicken coop.  This snake was STRONG.  The pole alone wasn't cutting it, so I finally reached down and grabbed its tail while I had it's front end controlled with the pole.  I shoved it into the bucket.  Victory!

Justin and I took the snake far away to relocate it.

See that white bulge in his belly?  That is the egg he ate.... or at least, we hope it was an egg...
You see, Justin had just put a white golf-ball in the nesting box to encourage the chickens to lay, and, well, now tonight we can't find the white golf ball!
