So THAT's where our eggs are going!

This week we've had VERY low egg production.  "No eggs? ...again?"  I started dreaming that we found a huge pile of eggs under one of our bushes, imagining that the chickens were laying outside of the nesting boxes.  Then, this afternoon Justin comes inside from the hen house and says, "So, I just found out where our eggs are going!"  I thought maybe he had found the big pile under a bush like in my dream.  Not quite.  In the nesting boxes were one laying chicken, and one very content black rat snake. Justin tried to shoo it out of the coop, but when it tried to slither through the chicken wire, well, there was an egg shaped lump in his belly preventing him from fitting through!  A few more attempts and he squeezed through the wire and into the garden.  If only we could get him to focus his attempts on our over-populated field mice instead of our precious eggs!  hmph.
