About a year after Justin and I started dating, he had the romantic notion for us to visit every historic covered bridge in the state of Georgia. We began in the summer of 2003, and finished in May, 2015.
There are 15 historic covered bridges by our count, though one of them is the Callaway Gardens bridge, which has been disassembled and in storage ever since we started this project… So we have never seen that one. Otherwise, here is our covered bridge journey:
Euharlee Bridge 2003 - the tiny old town nearby was fun to explore.
Watson Mill Bridge - George L. Smith Park - Good to visit on the way to the beach.
Red Oak Creek Bridge (all dressed up for our one and a half year dating anniversary).
Cromer's Mill Bridge - Our wedding invitation picture :)
Concord Bridge - Watch out for traffic!
Elder Mill - February 2006 You can knock out a few bridges at once near Athens.
Watson Mill - a looonng bridge
Howard's Bridge - a creepy bridge
Lula Bridge - this tiny bridge warrants two pictures. Below you will see how dilapidated the bridge had become, and what a jungle of weeds we had to fight through to get there!
Coheelee Creek - with baby William in tow. This was a great excuse for our family to take a little vacation towards Columbus, Georgia where we also got to hike through Providence Canyon.
Auchumpkee Creek Bridge - with William, Vera, and Gandalf. The kids caught tadpoles.
Poole's Mill - with William, Vera, Silas, Patrick, and Lea. This was our final historic bridge in Georgia completed in May, 2015.
