Silas is 10!

Silas has reached the double digits.
This crazy boy is full of spunk and adventure.
He is my rough and tumble guy.

Here is his fairy house from when we visited PaPa (my Dad) in Virginia; it is complete with a found animal skull.

Always wielding a stick (since the day he could walk!).

We love discovering fun things outside. Check out this amazing beaver tree!

Our family got to go on a trip this summer to Mexico to build a house for a family in need and fellowship with Orthodox Christians from across the country. Silas was asking to return before we even left. He was an amazing worker, constantly pitching in with a positive attitude.

We enjoyed a low-key birthday celebration on Silas's birthday. We bought some moon cakes after reading about them and being curious to give them a try. The verdict? Well... it was interesting. My favorite comment was from Daniel, who handed it back to me and said "I'd rather eat a hamburger." The dried egg yolk in the middle was strange for us! But fun to try something new.
Vera will make Silas's party cake. Silas will be building shelter, making fire, and shooting a bow and arrow with his friends for his birthday. He is inspired by the show "Alone."
