Vera turned 7 years old on April 8, 2017!
This girl is shy when she meets new people, but once comfortable she chatters away. She likes to help me with chores and cooking, she likes to make things (especially from her collection of 'treasures'... aka trash), she likes to climb (ropes, trees, climbing walls...), and she is smart smart smart.
Vera chose to take a friend rock climbing to celebrate her birthday, followed by a party the next morning with flower arranging and musical chairs.
The kids enjoyed flower arranging so much! But really, I should say the girls enjoyed it. Never have I seen such a distinct gender preference despite my equal invitation; all the boys came to the table, took a look, and turned to tromp through the yard with sticks. Meanwhile, the girls all worked diligently to arrange flowers... but hey, they were all having a good time.
(Patrick and one young boy cousin did join in for arranging flowers...so we did get some boys)
This party was to celebrate Patrick too, and he loved skipping around the circle of kids playing musical chairs!
Vera is like me in some ways, and so unlike me in others. One way that we are different? This girl doesn't like most cake, cookies, and sweets! She chose the types of cake she does like for her party: lemon and angel food.
She is resourceful, logical (not when she is upset... but I mean that she is a logical thinker), adventurous, helpful. She is not warm-and-fuzzy, not into girly toys, and not afraid of heights.
