Patrick turns 5!

Patrick turned 5 years old on April 1, 2020.  This boy is full of love.  After watching a video on the history of the Atlanta zoo to get free passes, he was thrilled to see a statue of Willie B and eager to hug it.

Patrick's obsession lately is to get my phone to take hundreds, sometimes thousands, of pictures.  We might get a stretch of 78 photos that look just like this... or he might hold down the button to take rapid pictures of pitch black. When he isn't taking pictures, he wants to "send Daddy a message!" even if Daddy is in the same room, he just wants to play with all the stickers and use his voice to write ridiculous sentences.

And sometimes we take pictures together. 

Patrick asked his sister to make him a Pikachu doll for his birthday, and using the materials we had on hand (cardboard and yarn) she pulled it off!

Oh, and there are always plenty of pranks on Patrick's birthday since it is April Fool's day.  William turned every one of my paintings upsidedown on the walls of the house (I'm so thankful they didn't break!), he and Vera taped mustaches on anything with a face, Vera wrote "Happy Birthday" on the floor with all of Patrick's clothes, and I had a surprise visit from a basketball falling from on top of the bathroom door.  Thankfully this year I took the tape off the faucet before I got sprayed.

Patrick loves his friends, and he was sad to realize he couldn't spend time with them for his birthday because of the coronavirus (or the "Cranolavirus" as he calls it), so I let him do whatever made him happy on his birthday.  Play Minecraft.  That's all he wanted to do.  And he played.  For 8 hours.  He made himself sick to the stomach playing so much!  After a nap, though, he woke up for cake and presents and all in all, he felt celebrated and loved on his birthday.
