Patrick turns 3!

Patrick.  He is my fun-loving, outgoing sweetheart.  Whereas some of our children are shy or often "in their own worlds," Patrick is personable and ready to share a warm "hello" with others.  I love the way he runs up to his grandparents with his arms open wide.  I love the way he shouts out "godmother!" and "godfather!" at church when he sees those two who have committed to pray for him.
This little parrot has a vast vocabulary, having repeated back much of what we say.  He learns songs quickly and sings them in tune.  He enjoys going to preschool and playing with his friends and his teachers, where he learns more fun songs that he brings home.
This kid has zero reservations when it comes to tackling Daddy or a big sibling.  He puts all his weight and fearlessness into his leaps.  He has been jumping on the trampoline with the big kids since he could stand up, and he doesn't care if he gets flung around.  If ever he does cry, I know he is truly hurt.  But after a magic Mommy kiss, he is all better... because this kid is tough.
Yeah, dark shirts are the worst for Patrick, who wears everything he eats.  AND he looks so much like Justin's kid pictures in this photo.
Patrick went through a hitting phase that was difficult on my mental peace, but he was always the sweetest at apologizing.  His passionate ways still get him into trouble, but he is always quick to try to make it right and wants to say he is sorry.  He is full of compassion and sympathy.
In the Orthodox church, April 1st was Palm Sunday and Christ's resurrection is celebrated on the 8th.  So Patrick's birthday was celebrated with some sibling pranks in the morning (April fool's day), a beautiful Palm Sunday service, and then his choice of white cake and brownies in the afternoon.  We even let him eat his dessert before dinner ;).
Here is Patrick's 3-year-old interview:

  1. Happy birthday, Patrick!
I love reading these birthday posts for each kid and getting to know their personalities through it. And how cool for them to be able to read back through these someday and see/remember what they were like at each age!
